Unlock PDF is for documents you own where the password has become a friction point — old contracts, downloaded statements, archived reports. Converterzilla's unlocker will remove the user password from any PDF you can open, returning you a copy that opens freely.

How Unlock PDF will work once it ships

This tool isn't live yet — the steps below describe the planned experience, not something you can do today.

  1. Upload the locked PDF. Drop the password-protected PDF you want to unlock. We accept any standard PDF encryption.
  2. Provide the password. Enter the password you currently use to open the PDF. We never store, log or transmit it.
  3. Download the unlocked file. Save the unlocked copy. The original encrypted file stays untouched on your disk.

What Unlock PDF will offer

Password is local-only

We never send the password anywhere. It's used in your browser to decrypt the file and immediately discarded.

Works with all standard encryption

Supports the full range of PDF encryption methods, including the modern AES-256.

Original is preserved

We produce a new, unlocked file. The encrypted original on your disk is never modified.

Questions we expect about Unlock PDF

We can't recover passwords — we only remove encryption when you supply the password. Password-cracking tools exist but we don't offer them; passwords protect real documents.

Yes for documents you own or have permission to modify. Unlocking content you don't own may violate terms of use or copyright.

Yes. Once unlocked, all permission restrictions (printing, copying, editing) are also lifted.
